I boarded a Maritime Self-Defense Force diesel sub at Kure once in 1992 (I was inspecting 83rd Ordnance Battalion which is walking-distance away). The Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force still flies that Naval "Rising Sun" flag.
Didn't know that at the time and it sure made me think I was transported back 60 years.
Oh .... diesel subs are s-m-a-l-l !!

Okay .... I found the larger picture. First name is Tomoyoshi ["tomo" -- friend -- is also read "yu" ]

And it is Ezuma Kuromatsu Cho [also "machi"] .... unless there is a locally different way of pronouncing that ... which happens. Even Japanese sometimes have difficulties. And no, I'm not rationalizing ... it's true! honest!Last edited by GHP; 10-08-2005, 12:34 AM.
