    Opinions on Japanese Officer's sword

This sword is being offered to me. Just wanted to get some second opinions on it. If you notice any issues with it, and any information as far as date/make/maker of the blade.

    Thanks in advance,
    Matt

    Hi,
Its a hand made blade - gendai-to,in good condition and in good polish which is
important for these war time swords. It has not been made in the traditional way,
like plunging it into water when heated, but using oil instead.Safer and less likely
    to shatter.

Thank you very much for the information. Do either of you happen to know the year the blade was made?

        Thanks

The presence of the Showa stamp puts it between late 1940 to early 1942.

It’s not a gendiato ie hand forged in the traditional manner
It’s a showato machine made oil quenched
But it is a nice unmolested example
