I just picked up late model type 44. Painted handle, and rough finish on the scabbard. Also if I can have some help with signature? Thank you

Nice sword, without even seeing the blade! The fittings are called the Contingency model of the Type 98, Rinji Sheishiki in Japanese. It's commonly called the Type 3 model, but it's not really an official "Type". The double release buttons and textured finish are upgrades that cost more money and are usually found to house nice traditionally made blades.

You normally find superior blades in these mounts emura nagamitsu star stamped etc
I not think this nagamitsu is the nagamitsu but I am sure it’s a gendiato
May we see photos of the blade

Here’s another nagamitsu Mei that’s very similar to yours

On the Japanese sword index its suggested this Mei is a student of Ichihara nagamitsu
From swords I have seen there isn’t much difference in workmanship
But sometimes you get “special order “full Mei nagamitsu which are stunning
I have a 27” in 44 mounts and a wakizashi in standard mounts with very controlled Itame hada and bizento suguha hamons
