Officers IJN CAP bought at the SOS

Heres the fourth piece of headgear I bought at the show

I love the IJN soft Caps! I am still a bit confused on these caps. I read somewhere, that the black stripes for officers are supposed to go all the way the the tie strings and have tie string holes incorporated into the stripes if its a factory original officers caps. I think its OK if they don't like your, only if the cap is issued, in case of an enlisted being promoted. Someone on this forum referenced a dealer, a long time ago, buying a bunch of un-issued caps and adding stripes to them to turn a quick buck. This was all before my time collecting Japanese, so I am still learning. I am sure others could chime in.

One is a Phillipine made with no air vents , bought from a British vets family and has picture of the vet wearing it

There was a famous old collector who added stripes. In this case I believe they're correct because cap does indeed have correct officers cap badge & white diamond interior label found in officers caps
