Iraqi Badged Winter Cap

Yep its an East German cap and was found at a local boot sale over the weekend, i bought it of the picker as i can allways use an Iraqi cap badge but before i remove the badge my question is... did the Iraqi army ever get supplied these caps at any point

I can't say this cap type but they used east german equipement……..i'd leave it be...……….dave

The Iraqi army did use winter caps, but I don't recall seeing this exact model in use. The examples that I've seen are slightly differently constructed and are likely Romanian or South Korean made.

Some of their green winter parkas (and other field equipment) were German made so it is possible that they could have used a German winter cap. However, most of the German made parkas, coveralls, and field equipment (i.e. ponchos & sleeping bags) usually have the triangle & jihm marking also on the German contract label.

On the positive side, the badge does look like it has been on the cap for quite some time though so there is a possibility that it may be original.

Bebra was located in West Germany, not East. East germn army never used this kind of cap and tag. This hat was made in West Germany.
