    Help identifying Indian sword

I bought this sword from a dealer that I know for a good price, and I'm curious to know more about it. Anybody else seen a sword like this? On one side, it has Indian writing and the other side simply says "Made in India", and the entire blade is covered in ornate decorations... and knicks and cuts... and a dried red something.

Quite confident it is a cavalry saber, but not sure from what century.

Well damn. I was hoping I'd finally gotten myself a real antique sword after all these years. I guess the search continues, disheartening as this is.
