French leather and brass helmet

This was found in a storage unit along with assorted headgear. Can anyone advise me to exactly what it is or was ? As you can see it is missing some parts and in poor condition. Looks kind of put together to me.

+1 french cuirassier (or dragon) for trooper m1872/74.

In this condition, 200/300 €.
To my mind, it's too much expensive to restore it. A similar helmet in good condition costs 1000/1200 €. But it's a long work and you need many parts!
