    Hi Birdie,

I remember seeing a version of that chariot as a qualification insignia of some sort, but for that one, I hesitate to say it's French militaire issue....?

The first, as you identified is a general armored unit insignia with either pinback or sew-on variant.

he upper is used in 1940 for mechanized personnal.
The lower is not police to me. Looks like a qualification for army driver, same period.

If you look at the links Didier posted you'll see that it is identified as a kepi badge for policemen. I only glanced at the French but noted 'circulation', so presumably for traiffic police!

The First one is a french 1940 Motorized units breast badge, like Cavalry .
The second is an award badge for a Hippomobile Car Driver, worn on the walking out
              dresses only .
Silver would be a 2nd class of 3 classes .
