    Hello,

i am not sure if this is the right area to post it but i ll try my luck.
I ve got this kind of belt together with a russian Sponton from the 18th century.
Has anybody seen this before or no exactly what it is?

    Thanks in advance

      hi there,

this is not my theme but this looks like a "Shoulder belt for the Austrian Infantry" ---Napoleon period.

It is a bayonet or sword belt, 18th-19th century. I wear one very similar when I dress as a British infantryman, circa 1812. t would hanf over the right shoulder with the bayonet on the left hip. The Austrian example is meant for a bayonet AND a sword or hatchet, as was common in the 18th century.

You can see an example of a double belt with the bayonet in place here: http://www.militaryheritage.com/fandibelts.htm

Yours is a single, so probably for a bayonet, not a sword.
