Turkish War Medal

Good day Gents,

I posted this in the Imperial Forum, but it was getting no traction so I was wondering if I could get some opinions from you all here on this TWM?

Although it is marked 800, the backing plate does not have the silver appearance I am used to seeing on a WWI EKI that is 800 marked.

There is a Turkish sub-forum on the Gentlemaens Military Interst Club and several of our members collect these, including at least one member in Turkey. They will likely have an informed opinion.

Thanks for the replies and links gentlemen.

I've looked at about 200 of these on here and agree that this one doesn't come close to what period examples display in terms of craftsmanship and age.

The vast majority of these available for sale were made in Germany between the two world wars. They come in all kinds of quality. I believe this one was made in Germany in that period. The translation to English is usually Turkish War Medal although it was awarded in the Ottoman Empire. And as said above, often referred to by collectors as the Gallippoli Star. I have several in my collection.

Though it doesn't seem to show your badge in particular, there are at least a couple of knowledgeable collectors who have posted in it. You might be able to PM them and get them to take a look at your thread.
