It certainly looks as if it is meant to hang from a strap, but I would guess 'ornament' before 'part of a whip.' Did they use scourges/whips as weapons in the Bronze Age?

Hmm well brass not bronze and it looks too modern for Bronze Age item.

At 300g a little light for weapon (mace or flail) I would say some sort of horse tack or alike.

        are you sure about provenance?
The edges of the hole are really too sharp

In my opinion, archaeological pieces cannot be discussed about their authenticity, after pictures only. Too many are the factors that could deceive, even if the piece would be authentic.

Also, the subtle difference between bronze and brass (resp. an alloy of copper/tin and of copper/zinc), absolutely cannot be identified after a few although good pictures of a strongly patinated piece).

The object in se, looks like part of a Luristan flail or mace.

Etruscan or Roman weapons of this kind, are different.

              Best,

              Enzo (E.L.)

When some parts are too much odd you must be very suspicious.
I know a guy in merida who is making roman art and everything you're looking for with original roman metal and original aging during a few years burring them
