        Hello Reibert
nice combat knife, like every time

The DAGGER FROM Assault is adopted on 03/15/60. but, or they have been used blades prepared for something else, or the arsenal has "brought forward" in time. In fact there are marked FAT 58. wooden grips. leather sheath and metal all painted green.
total length mm. 278, 172. Blade applicable laws and not dagger because it KNIFE

The blade has a single wire, SO NO NEED TO PORT OF WEAPONS.
The ones I see 58 and 59 are burnished, they have the serial number on the handle and logo

FAT on the left side of the blade, on the right: Star FAT year: in rectangle

Out of those 86, the irons are phosphated, the brand in rectangle star FAT year is very light and follows the freshman: A00 ... .. that perhaps would indicate a new production and I would say not made in terni that only seems to have agreed to run.

        Happy New Year
        cordially
        Didier

          Reibert,

I get the same on line translation which doesn't help much. The knife you posted pictures of has all the hallmarks of a bayonet shortened to a fighting knife but not from any Italian bayonet that I am familiar with. From the cross piece to the end of the handle it resembles the Carcano 1891 bayonet. The blade however, is entirely different. Looks more like a shortened Italian made Garand bayonet blade. Perhaps they are newly made combat knives of either old bayonets or newly manufactured fighting knives using old designs? Anyway, an interesting knife. Thanks for posting pictures of it.

          Regards,

          Gordon

            Thx.a lot, Didier !

As far as I learned, the proper designation of such pattern daggers, in Italian, which is:

"PUGNALE DA ASSALTORI MOD. 1960", or, "PUGNALE 1960", (1960 pattern assault dagger).

The blade is very similar to the, italian, Carcano 91/38 pattern bayonet, (PUGNALE BAIONETTA CON LAMA FISSA).

            Best regards,
            R.
