French Legion D'Honneur Decoration

HAve some Question on this LH Decoration.
It's about 27cm high and the Marianne Medaillion is foldable, maybe to cover a Pic or so.
Does anybody saw this before?
Maybe the most interesting feature is the "gesetzlich geschützt" Stamp at the Top "Ribbon Ring".
It's a Mark that this Item is protected by German Law from copies or misuse.

Never seen one like it - table top decoration for a medal holder I'd assume - likely 1920s-1950s? Looks like a local made one-off.

The Blue ring is slightly off as the 1870 should be on the bottom with the medal design.

A custom made 'copy' of the decoration, I think and, as you say, meant to hold a photo/painting, perhaps of the person who won the original Ld'H.

I have seen early Victorian medals with similar legs on the back and a slot cut in the top, meant to be place card holders, I think. At the time I thought it a deseceation but perhaps someone's way of reminding themself and others of the original owner. Very interesting piece.

Maybe made for a decoration in a honnor room ( French unit in Germany)?

Peut etre, oui. The German maker is a bit of an oddity but that might explain it.
