        This is the "troupes de marine" (TDM) cap badge, worn on a dark blue beret. TDM is the post 1958 troupes coloniales (colonial troops) name.

        Among them you can find near all the army branches :
        - infantry (RIMa) ;
        - artillery (RAMa)
        - engineers
        - corps of signal

        TDM have four airborne regiments but the cap badge is different (armed winged over the anchor) and worn with a maroon beret.

        Cheers

          Definitely Troupes de Marine, which is an Army unit, not Navy (after 1900, anyway).

          I've never been able to figure this out, but which TdM unit uses the silver insignia? I thought they would follow French convention where infantry and artillery wear gold and cavalry insignia is silver, but that does not seem to be the case as the RIMa's, RAMa's, and RICM all wear the gold beret insignia. Is it for staff or signals?
