    Napoleon's hair

    hi
Napoleon's hair with certificate of authenticity Louis Mushro

And a resident of Grosse Pointe, Michigan would know that it was authentic because...? I would be far more impressed by a certificate in French from, say 1818, saying 'This lock of hair cut from the Emporer's head by XXX on Ilse Ste Helene on YYYYY, 1818. But maybe that's just me.

The link establishes his credentials, I guess, to the cognescenti, of which I'm clearly not one.

Value? In the eyes of the beholder / what a buyer will pay.

              yes

I think the value that we can give is very personal

You would have to have a lot of faith to trust such an item.

I,ve seen, for sale, a bottle of water collected by one of Caesar's centurions as they crossed the Rubicon. Not, of course, in the original container, but WITH a certificate of authenticity.

As I don't know M. Mushro, I have no idea whether or not one of his certificates is the gold standard for hair samples. Let's assume that it is. Still a very expensive strand, IMO.

                        "a world-famous reference"

I trust myself, not world famous references, who cant even be bothered to scrible more then a few words with no explanations on a so called certificate of authenticity.
This reminds me of the champagn runes.

Without provenance it is a great leap of faith for anyone.

                              From Affiliate auctions last year:

"A strand of Napoleon Bonaparte's hair, with accompanying certificate of authenticity from Louis Mushro of The Manuscript Society, is being sold by Affiliate Auctions & Realty LLC on the 15th of March. The artefact has an estimate of $40-150 and a current bid of $10."
