unknown dutch(?) medal 5 point star

Okay, I've had this medal for over 2 years now. And I still don't know what it is for.
The ring is marked with a silver sword hallmark that stands for dutch silver, The hallmark itself is the first type sword hallmark which was used from 1814 untill 1906.

that's all I know but maybe someone on this forum knows a bit more

Mmmm. I don't think this is a Dutch medal. The crown looks more British, maybe Edward VII's crown? And the arabic cartouche on it makes me suspect one of the Princely States like Hyderabad, definitely islamic anyway. It may be a school or education prize, rather than a military medal.

Does the reverse show anything?

Well it's not arabic, according to my Syrian friend. Maybe Tamil? Nope. It's not Tibetan, Hindi or Thai. Mmmm off to look at Persian script

Agreed that it's not Hindi, Urdu or Tibetan. Couldn't say for Thai. I suspect the crown is a signigficant clue if it's well enough renedered to resemble the original it represents.

Lol. Of course it is. But starting from 12 o'clock gives you HZOD. Now Google tells me that HZOD is an acronym for a Dutch festival called Hague Zittend Op Dreef. Maybe I have been wasting my google-fu after all and it is a simple festival or sports medal of Dutch origin after all?
