    Swiss uniform

    hi all

this is not my area of expertise. How would you date this Swiss medic uniform ?

    The following markings are present

    Overcoat: "GB 42 / 50 / 4 bb . Sep. " , a stamp with swiss cross, the number "IV" , and "KMV-IAG Privat-Privé".

    Cap : "VAUD 42"

    Tunic : "4 b 42 / 2 / KMV-IMG Privat-Privé"

Any idea of value ? The set comes with two pair of trousers.

    thanks for your help !

    Hi Johan,

Only the tunic it can go for CHF 80 to 120 (about Eur 70-95), the cap about CHF 25-45 (about Eur 20-37), the coat like the tunic, and the trousers about CHF 30-50 (about Eur 25-40), so in total about EUR 200-250, depending on conditions and stamps.

Maybe selling it in Switzerland through a online auction like Ricardo.ch you can get more than selling outside of Switzerland. I don't think that these Swiss uniforms are so popular or being collected abroad. The Swiss didn't have to fight in WW2,, fortunately, and that makes it not so "sexy" to collecting community, like German uniforms, but the quality of the tailoring it could easely surpass German late war quality.

By the way the Uniform is of a Soldier of Medical unit - plain blue Waffenfarbe, like German uniforms means Medical units. Unfortunately there aren't any slip-on unit boards to identify the unit, but the tunic was produced in Canton Vaud, which is in the French part of Switzerland. Such uniforms were still worn after WW2, well into the early sixties, like B-Uniforms (or for excercise... sort of field uniform). This one seems that he hasn't been re-issued (see stamps... are there any other re-issuance stamps?).

    Cheers,

    Claudio

      Hi Claudio

      Many thanks for the information.

There seem to be slip-on unit boards found inside on of the pockets, but I don't have a photo yet.

I decided to buy the uniform. I received information from the family that the uniform belonged to a familiy member who served during the war in a Sanitäts-Truppe / Gebirgs-Bataillon. Hopefully, I will also receive more details and photos ...

What type of boots/belt should I look for to complete a mannequin ?

      kind regards

Maybe to add, that the "Privat-Privé" stamp means, that the Uniform was phased out by the Army and given to the Soldier for Private use and that it doesn't had to be given back to the Army. I found this stamp often in the Fur Backpacks when I bought them Years back for the Scouts.

            Hi,
I didn't want to post a new thread as my question is about swiss uniform as well (and is probably directed mainly at Mr Ortelli?). I have bought this coat in a thrift shop and I identified it as a swiss one, it also has the stamp indicating it no longer is an army property ("kmv-img privat-prive"). Could you please help me identify what kind of uniform is it in particular and also how would you date it? (and how would you estimate the worth of the coat). Here is a picture: and a detail
            Thanks a lot!

(Apparently something went wrong with those pictures and I can't edit my previous post, so I'll try to post the pics again.)
