    Italian medal "Al valore civile"

    Hi to all,

i need some informations about this medal. I have searched it on internet but i am not satisfied with what i found.
I know already that is from Italy, ww2 period, silver medal desiganted to a civilian for outstanding deeds.
i want to know where i can find more informations about it (importance, hierarchy, if official model, it was given retroactive? second Republic was proclaimed only in 02.06.1946 e.t.c.) and especially about it's recipient. Also i know that they had a first republic under Mussolini, The Italian Social Republic , proclaimed September 23, 1943 who officially ceased to exist in 29.04.1945 fact that make this medal a rare medal, been awarded somewhere between 23.09.43 and 29.04.45. I saw that this medals where given only with a presidential decree (Benito Mussolini) under appointment of minister of internal affairs (Guido Buffarini Guidi), so it must be written somwhere for what reason it was decorated. Also please correct me if i said something inaccurate.

thank you all for your future answers,
    best regards,

    Alex.B

    Hello Akex,

the medal is assigned at not military person for an act of bravery
not during the RSI period (9 March 43) this model is postwar (Repubblic)
assigned postwar; impossible to have detail about the fact or motivation
    of bravery act; nice medal.
    cheers
    Raffaello

P.S. don't exist at moment an database of civil medal for bravery.
"six italians, dressed in rather unusual diving suits and equipped with materials of laughably little cost have swung the military balance of power in the Mediterranean in favour of the Axis".

      Thank you Raffaello,

is this an official medal, made by the Italian state mint or a different producer?
what is the meaning of that Z letter?
on a scale 1-10, how important is this medal in Italy and on colectable scale of Italian phaleristic?

I found out the reason for receiving this medal,
was for saving somebody's life for drawing in river PO!

      thank you,
      best regards,

Life saving is the most typical motivation for a Civil Valour Medal.
This specific medal was made by the national mint. In fact, "Z" means "Zecca", mint in italian
