Unknown Badge with Skull! Help me ID it!

This badge has stumped me... It's about 2"x2" in size, and it appears gold with sterling skull. It's definately military, but what is it? Sorry for the blurry pic - hope to post a better one up soon.

This isn't much help, Dave, but it looks Spanish to me, particularly the backround to the skull.

My guess is something from a fraternal organization.

I had one just like it. It is of stamped construction and the skull very nicely detailed. I was never able to find out what it was. Best guess was that it was from some European fascist party but who knows.

I even posted it here in the forum a couple of years ago.

(first had some problems with the link, hopes it now works!) and feel free to use the internet to find more about this French post WWI veterans' association "Crosses of Fire" that slowly got into politics (former French president François Mitterrand even joined the movement), using the following key words:
Croix de feu
Colonel de La Roque
(bloody demonstration in Paris on) 02.06.1934

A little info on the original owner:

He was born 13 April 1921. He qualified for his para wings 20th January 1944 at Ringway. His OC was Lt Col Durand. He has a FFI certficate no 1331 stating he joined the resistnace 15th May 1944. He has a cetifivate of service stating service with the 3rd SAS, Le Negus (resisitance) and also SOE! Then there are pictures of him in late 1943 at Ringway, and pictures of him in 194 working with the SAS.

Now that we know what the badge is, another part of the mystery is unveiled!

Very interesting. I hadn't come across that one before. The KKK must have copied the design for the medal shown as item 'T' on their restrikes page on the link posted above.
