Help Requested With Uniform Identification

Hello Gents:

Could anyone help me with the identification of the uniforms in this photo? The photo came out of Latvia but I don't know if the uniforms are Latvian or another Baltic country like Estonia or Lithuania.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Wish I could help you more but this is not my area of expertise. I do agree that they look like uniforms from one of the Baltic nations you've mentioned. Is there any writing on the back to provide further clues?

There is nothing on the back.

I was hoping someone might see something about these uniforms that was familiar.

Something makes me think Finnish, but couldn't find anything on google to back that up.

If the photo is clear enough to see detail of the knuckle guard, I suggest you try to identify the saber...this could be better avenue to investigate. Good luck.

These are not Lithuanians. I would guess for Estonians or Finns.

I am 100% that these are not Estonian uniforms. I think they are Latvians. I just posted two Latvian photos up on sale and pockets, and some another uniform details are very similar. Have a look:

Is there any possibility that these guys are "South American"....during the 1920s many S. American countries patterned thier uniforms on German styles...including imported swords, belt buckles, etc. that were German made...
The hat emblems look very much like Brazilian Army hat devices....but unfortunately not enough detail to be sure....

Just more "food for thought"......

South American would be a real good guess except for the white birch studio furniture these guys are sitting on. I believe that pretty much indicates Europe or North America as a point of origin and I don't think these guys are North American.

I noticed the breast pockets of their uniforms just show scalloped flaps, not the normal outside pockets with or without center pleats that one normally sees. I was wondering if maybe this type of pocket would indicate a country of origin.
