WOW, that is a stunning piece, Dave. I don't know why but I've always liked Serbian awards. I guess everyone has their preferences. Bunkhouse Francois likes the DK's and Spanish Crosses, Ranger loves EK's, Rick L. goes for the Bavarian items, Carl loves Mika, and Stogie likes cases. The St. Sava group caught my eye years ago. Now you post this one. I wonder if anyone has the 2nd or 1st class examples? Gosh it's a beauty. How old is it? What was it awardes for?

Man that is NICE. Thanks for posting it.

The Order was established in 1865 by Prince Michael as an award for military merit. It was expanded to five classes in 1876. I'm not sure how old this one is; I think it dates to about WW1.

Any maker's marks on it? Hugenin (sp?) ? Or Austrian?

I agree, for pure design work, Serbia and Belgium tie first place for crowned enamel work.

There's a mark on the ring, but I can't make it out. It's a little blob and then "800" for the silver content. The blob looks a little like an "I" or "H" in a circle, so maybe Huguenin. Orders of Takovo by Rothe of Vienna supposedly have a mark on the bottom of the crown, which I don't see here.
