Not Thai, it's Burmese. I know, I know, it's now Myanmar. But it's still Burma to me, and Ceylon and Peking and.......

Still say Thailand. here are a couple of Thai Cav/Armor patches from my collection. The larger traingular patch is for the 6th Armored Artillery Regiment referred to as the "Kings Memory" the second smaller patch uses the same symbol as on your medal which I have always felt was a horse whip of sorts to symbolize Cavalry. your medal shows the King on his horse, I have forgotten which King they a memorializing in this image.http://

They renamed Ceylon? Never ever a nice Ceylon Tea anymore.

"note the forward control stick on horses head"

Maybe its the parking brake lever. I can never get my horse to stay where I put him!

Agreed, googling Thai can be dangerous to your computer. I would estimate your medal from the 1970's to possible 1980's, just a guess. Thai militaria is interesting due to its links the U.S. and Great Britain but dificult to research.
An old saying went that the Thai military had the best of both worlds. U.S training and arms with British pomp and regalia.

If anyone knows of any good sources on Thai military insignia etc, please let me know.
