    French Patch question

Found that this is the RMD-NE/CMD Metz.
What does it mean, can't find a "Translation" for it.
The only I know is Metz and NE is Nord-Est.

2nd: Is this design obsolete as I see only Metal Versions in the Net.
Are there additional Infos available, like: for what issued etc.

        Didier, thank's a lot.
Sure the BMP's are from Army Stocks, the question is, are they used also by the AF and Navy? and because I see them all the time in the Metal Version, are they obsolete?
I just try to get some order into my French Stuff. They're really complicated. Sadly I lost some of my Info in the Hard Drive Crash. I had such a nice site with all of the Homologations for the Metal Insignia to ID them. Now I have about 2 Kilos left, waiting for ID.

I confirm Just’ identification and could add few words about the crossed saber insignias.
These qualification badges were worn by army EM and NCO who were qualified in the three classes of the brevet militaire professionnel , military qualification skill.
              BMPE (elementary) bronze
It is awarded to all army personnels who successfully passed the Certificat Militaire Elémentaire (CME) and Certificat Technique Elémentaire (CTE) courses.
After the basic training, young soldiers learn a skill such as Fire and movement for the infantry, radio-loader in the armour branch or radio operator in signal corps, etc… After a course ranging from one to three months, they pass the CTE. Assigned to a company or a squadron, they are designed by the CO to pass the CME course. During this new course, they learn how to manage a team (5 men) in the field.

              BMP1 silver: (CM1(group leader - 10 men) + CT1) are usually followed by selected caporaux-chef and sergents

              BMP2 gold (CM2 (platoon leader - 32men) + CT2)
These courses are usually followed by old sergents and staff sergents, open the way to promotion to SNCO ranks
Before to receive the BMP and the right to wear the patch or to pin the patch (since the arly 90), the enlisted man or the NCO wait year test period
These qualification badges appeared in the French army during the early 70’s and disappeared with the introduction of the new “Terre de France” uniform and system.
Here is an originally badged summer shirt worn by a corporal of the 2e REP during the mid 80's.

              Hope it could help
