“Unofficial,” brevets in the French Army

Can someone explain the French Army and Foreign Legion use of the unofficial brevets they produce?
For example the Legion company brevets, promotion brevets and operation brevets.
Are they ever worn by soldiers / legionaries? Are they just issued as souvenirs?<O></O>

those badges are souvenirs
for example, OPEX insignias (Opérations Extérieures) are given after the mission and rarely worn
same thing for Promotion insignias, given after promotion's school
