    Tunic Identification

I see this tunic for sale on internet, and I wonder what it is. Seller is also not sure, but thinks it could be from fromer Austrian-Hungarian land after WW1. It appears in Austrian-style cut with hidden buttons and standing collar. 2 pleated breast pockets and 2 lower hidden pockets. Has pointed shoulderboards with gold/bronze trim.

    Eastern European 1930s? Theatre costume?

So, no idea? I admit, that this is hard one to identify.

I'm not sure, but for some reason the collar tabs and pointed shouldeboards remind of early Czechoslovakian tabs from the 1920s. I can't get to my photos right now, but it could be military or another government organization. Don't take my word as final though, as I know almost nothing of post WW1 Austrian uniforms, so it could be from there. It looks too well made for theater use. Does your friend know if there are any markings on the inside?

There were no visible stamps in photo of lining, but I did not ask. The seller is not a friend, but from an ebay auction.

Sorry I have nothing definitive to offer. Very much AH style, but can't tell you for sure its exact use. The buttons, tabs and shoulder boards look very Czech to me however.
