    Mexican Pilots Badge?

Picked this up a few days ago at a South western show.
Price was right and I had to get something.

    No makers marks.
    Black enamel "Oficial"

3 3/8" tip to tip. Brass.

    Any help to Id it.

    Thanks
    George

        Mexican, yes..

... most likely, but Air Force - not likely?

There are pilot/air crew badges using this design of the Mexican Air Force (FAM), but they are in most cases made of white metal, and are either found with a silver or gilt wash. It is unclear when this design was used in the FAM; some say pre-WWII, others WWII, while there also modern interations of these.

Anyways, the FAM wings all have "FAM" in the enamel rectangle in the claws of the eagle, and there is usually some kind of pendant hanging beneath the "FAM", indicating speciality and/or seniority.

This badge looks like a bronze casting of a FAM badge, where the "FAM" has been replaced by the word "OFICIAL". Why? No idea. Military? Not likely.

        Cheers,
        Mike
