A pair of rare Bundesheer suspenders

    My fellow collectors ,

Here we have a quite interresting and somewhat rare pair of austrian
    Bundesheer suspenders.
These were made by the very well known maker of army equipment
    "Stolla" in Vienna in 1956.
The story is that in 1956 the US Government delivered lots of personal
equipment to the newly formed austrian Bundesheer.
Unfortunately the US Gvt. delivered 16.600 field packs ( M44 ) without
    suspenders.
To put these "D-Sturmgepäck" s into service the Bundesheer had the
vienna based company K.& A.Stolla design and produce a "austrified"
version of the good old M 44 suspenders.
Typical for austrian equipment of this time is use of brown leather and
    black painted metal hardware.
There are very few pics showing this equipment in use , but I have added the one that started my interrest.
On this pic from the LIFE files you can see that the hardware is of unpainted ( chromed ? ) appearance.

As always I hope you like it ......

    Regards

    Bernhard

I have a Pair of US Straps with the Webbibg Ends removed and the Leather Ends attached. It took me a long time to find out what they are.
If somebody's interested I can Post some Pic's of 1952 Canteens I have in my Storage. All are brand new with the original Paper Bag they came in from the Factory.

                      Gentlemen,

Interesting photos. Another new (to me) piece of kit for the Bundesheer.

                      Regards and Merry Christmas,

                      Gordon
