Looks like well made modern scale-male

Likely a movie or stage prop or just for show off some high school shop skills.

Can I get a close up of rivets top see it they are hand or machine made??

Using 4 rivets like this will make the mail very stiff so I do not think it served any practical purpose.

      Hi byterock ,

actually I don't have it in hand yet, I liked it only for the fact it is different, it does look like it has some age to it, but not much. I will post close-ups of rivets when I get it.

      Thanks,
      Kevin

I would urge you to consult Bashford Dean's book Helmets and Body Armor in Modern Warefare. He shows numerous examples of WWI era body armor very similar to yours.

                  Best Regards,

I said it's getting interesting for the fact it may be more than a movie prop or something made by some High school kid for a shop project.

                        Regards,

Granted that there was/is modern armour - 'flak jackets - this example strikes me as an SCA project, by someone who knows little about armour. Flexibility, as noted in the reference from the book, is crucial. There are many legends about the ungainlyness of armoured troops but in general, if you can't move you can't fight! Read any account of Agincourt! Those knights, however, were meant to fight mounted and I think you'll find historical accounts suggest that, on the rare occasions they fought on foot they wore lighter, flexible armour. To do otherwise was to die quickly when facing a more agile foe!

So, my votre is for SCA or shop class!

                              Peter
