Third Reich Medal Bar with Bulgarian and Romanian Awards

    Gentlemen,

Help me out here. What are the two awards on the right side of the bar.

    Mike,

    The orders are:

    - Bulgarian Military Order for Bravery, 4th Class, 2nd Grade (actually showing the reverse with the institution date of this order: 1879).
    - Rumanian Order of the Crown 2nd type, Knight with swords.

My compliments, this is really a medal bar a would look after to add to my collection... I saw it on Detlev's update a couple of weeks ago, but I guess you were very quickly to get it! Let me know if you wish to sell it.

Herewith I am showing you another similar bar I also bought from Detlev... I really like these German medal bars with foreign decorations!

    ciao,

    Claudio

      Claudio,

Like you, I also enjoy the TR medal bars with foreign decorations.

I will keep you in mind and, yes, you have to be very quick with the Send button with Detlev. I was lucky this time.

      Best regards,

      Mike

      P. S. Here is another Detlev purchase.

While Claudio's is undoubtedly real, it is odd that there are no long service awards for this Army Group South retread officer (SS?).
The bottom bar is a classic Nachrichten/Gebirgsjager NCOs type bar.

Probably then a former enlisted soldier who only rejoined no later than October 1938. A former EM who came back as an officer might point toward SS, but I imagine there were Heer officers in that category as well.

With the Bulgarian bravery award (MMO on the Bravery Order ribbon), likely someone serving with Bulgarian occupation forces in Serbia as well.

Not necessarily serving together with the Bulgarians. For example, Michael Wittman has such a Bulgarian bravery order /like on the 3rd picture; the higher ranks were getting higher grades/. As far as I know he got it in 1941, still a young and unknown tank crewman, whose tank unit did a fast job on the Balkans and left for its next operations. From my point of view some Germans received such awards almost only for passing thorught Bulgaria

                  Dave:
Hypothetically an 18 year old could have won only the EK2 in 1918, but he'd still have 2 years war service time in. If he came back in 1938, 1939 and 1940 (when LS awards ceased) would still give him a 4 year LS medal.
Given the seniorty of the Bulgarian and Rumanian awards, I think it likely that he was either SS or forgot. But given how 'rightig' the german military was, I doubt it.
Either that or he was awarded the Czech medal as a member of the SA/NSKK etc. etc. and came back in 1939.
