Iraqi Helmet ?

Does the painted symbol on the back of this Iraqi helmet mean anything ?

my guess is probably some type of unit insignia

When I was there in 09 they would paint this on their helmet, and then on their rifle on the buttstock so they knew who's rifle was who without having to read the serial number. I figure they probably did the same in Saddams Army, since they kept a lot of their "traditions" after the Iraqi Army was reformed.

Thanks Again Guys. I found this helmet in a Army Surplus store. The store owner said a soldier had brought it in.

I'm surprised he got rid of it. The last thing i'd do is get rid of my war trophies. But with the prices of things these days I'm not surprised!

He couldn't have gotten much for it. I paid only 9.95 for it in the store. Don't know if he had other items & sold it as part of a group. I did buy a US helmet too. The store owner didn't say anything about him bringing that one in.

does it still have the original webbing inside? lots of Iraqi helmets are missing the webbing, US webbing from a late model M1 helmet liner will also fit IRAQI helmets that have the removable cradle style suspension

just find a well used / salty GI suspension , they are very easy to find and plentiful

The webbing is there. But the chinstraps are cut or worn off.

Iraqi Helmet

Bolo...Thanks for the list of Numerals used by Arabs. I also picked up an Iraqi helkemt (sand colored) w/liner with #19 on yellow circle on the back of the helmet. I picked it up in a Thrift store for almost nothing. I didn't even know what if was...but I could NOT pass it up for the price...then I started researching it and found out it was Iraqi. Again..Thanks for info.
