Who knows East Block AK-47 bayonets?

I have two bayonets. Made in Romania. The first one I got used left me feeling like something was missing. I found an un issued one.

The lock on the new one is hard to depress takes two thumbs. It does not seem to lock onto the rifle. I was told they are all like this from the seller and oil will fix it up but I notice the button on the old one is taller then the un issued one.

Any insight?

I am also wondering what the small strap attached to the handle is for, anyone know?

the leather strap on the handle is to prevent the user from dropping the bayonet if it was ever used as a fighting knife during hand to hand combat or other situations to prevent the loss of the bayonet

I am also a fan of these bayonets and got me this nice nice romanian
AK bayonet lately.
The first one I ever had the chance to buy.

Is the lock on your bayonet hard to depress? Any idea why they include the rubber part rather then just make the frog fit the scabbard?

the rubber sleeve part also helps protect the hand from electrical shock if these were ever used to cut through an electric fence or wire, since the scabbard is all metal the rubber part is a little added protection
