Looks like the E.F.A.12 Helmet of the 1950's, what was replaces by the E.F.A. 21 in the 60's. The oxygen supply on th side is missing.
    Also the Sunscreen is missing.

Oops, somebody really wanted it. the one looks complete, but I wouldn't pay that much. Maybe I missed something in the Past Years, but the prices really went up.

          Oberst von Luck,

The helmet in the auction is the French type 12. According to "Jet Age Flight Helmets" it is loosly based on a U.S. helmet. The main difference between the two helmets is that the French helmet has the oxygen hose connected to the helmet frame instead of to the face plate which is what is done with the U.S. helmet. In one of the auction pictures you can see the oxygen hose coming out of the right-hand side of the helmet. The helmet in the auction appears to be a complete Type 12 helmet in very good condition. The two decals shown in the auction are those of the helmet manufacturer "EFA" (Etudes et Fabrications Aeronautiques). The Type 12 was produced in 1958 for use in the Mirage III, IV and V aircraft. The cost is reasonable because the number produced is beleived to be under 450. Therefore, a complete helmet in this condition would bring a premium price.

          Regards,

          Gordon
