Czech backpack 1942?

Hello,
I got this backpack along with some ww2 german items. I first thought that it was german, but the design looks a lot (althought not the same) like the modern czech backpacks that are being offered a lot these days. It also seems to have a 42 marking. Could that be a date?

Is it indeed a Czech backpack, and what would be its age?

There is a picture of one in the Robert Fisch book 'Field Equipment of the Infantry 1914-1945' that looks just like yours. It is marked and dated P.A.S. 1937. It has the Czech lion, but maybe they did not use this during wartime production?
