Chinese Sword

Hi All

I came across this sword recently but I have no clue as to what it is.
Any ideals or is it a piece of tourist junk.

Handle is Wood /Brass
Scabbard is wood with a "turtle shell cover"
Length 56cm

Looks a little better than tourist trap swords usually encountered, although chinese swirds are generally crapola anyway. But This may be a WW2 bring back possibly from the 30's . I like it anyway.

Yeah, it does not look like the tourist swords sold on ebay. I do not know how old is it though.

The Chinese translates something to the effect that the sword is a happy life sword and is used for exorcising evil spirits.

I guess if you get rid of the evil spirits with the sword you will have a happy life.

It is still very nice as chinese swords go..and I would advise keeping it for a happy life to ward off your eveil spirits as now it has crossed your path to be yours. Like the japanese sword, the shinese sword also contains a spirit of its previous owner, and may just be a good omen sent your way, of good things to come. You were very wise to buy this one, and yes it is real tortoise.

I wonder if I can use it to keep my job, now that the evil spirits have announced the defence cuts.
