I e-mailed the seller. He knows his bayonets, but doesn't have a clue with this one. The tang must be glued or wedged in, as it doesn't go through and there are no rivets or screws. He did say that now he's decided it's probably French, since he has a rare French bayo with a similar blade. I agree with you, though. I think it was probably cobbled together from a sword blade and odd bayo parts.
