    Hi Leigh,
there are only this kind of Selous Scout wing, apparently also unnumbered wings from the original dies, some which have been numberd to fool collectors. I saw a pair like that about 10 years ago, but the numbers were to big. that was what I had to get confirmed after I bought these, that the numbering was correct, size wise.

A good school friend of mine from way back when is married to the daughter of one of the founder members of the scouts (mentioned in the book"selous scouts, top secret war"), he is going back to south Africa in a week or so and promised he would see if he could get me anything ... I am holding thumbs...

A very nice find. When I was at school we boys used to talk about the Selous Scouts in the way I guess young boys talk about the SAS now. I still remember a story someone told me then about their training. I was lucky enough to get a copy of the book about them last year and pleased to find some very similar stories in the book.

As a non-e-bayer (does that sound like the old "I never buy filthy mags but I read other people's" excuse) I had a squint at Aussie e-bay this evening at the suggestion of an Aussie mate, quite interesting - love the "this may be 10th or 20th Hussars badge (the xHx cap badge of 20th Hussars with an x broken off), but I noticed a pair of w/m Selous Scouts wings noted as having a serial number of 9 hundred odd - but no photo of the reverse. Going for about 79 yankee dollars at the moment, & as the vendor states, headlined as "SAS" merely to get attention.................

Nice set of scouts' wings there Chris. I had a pair a few years ago - when I went through my 'Johnny Foreigner jump wings' phase. They were quite low numbered. I also once passed up the opportunity for a complete set of stuff for an ex RLI, C sqn trooper & scout: RLI, SAS & Scout (brown) berets, stable belts, wings, Rhodie GSM and photos. And before it became top draw on the price front too.

          What a muppet!

I just picked up this pair on American Ebay for 56.00. They sure look right compared to Chris' example. Is there a chance anyone can help me identify these by the number?

                Thanks

                Eric

The last issued one I saw for sal was upward of USD500 the unissued ones quite a bit less I would imagine.. still, I was pleased as can be.

                        Seilous Scouts

I knew an ex.Seilous Scout. He and his South African Anglo wife now live in the states.
He said that all ex-Seilous are on a "murder list" by that glorious enlightened nation of so-called "Zimbabwe"(Rhodesia.)

Here is the pair on ebay that was mentioned earlier. Any thoughts on these compared to the other two posted. What are these things really worth?

                              Hi Eric,

the ebay pait loks good as well.
Apparently they were awarded up to number 4??, 500 and above came from the stores when the unit disbanded.

Issued wings can be priced according to whose they were, unnumbered seem to average about EUR70.

Like 3rd Reich, these reached a cut off point, so what there is is what there is.

Nice shield by the way !!

                                Dear Guys

These wings are extremly rare. A few years ago they used to sell at about USD250, but now they are double. I now understand that an attributable wing is now selling for about USD500. If they come with their Rhodesian GSM even more and with a decoration the sky is the limit. There are only a few of these around and most have found their way into collections so there is even less out there. But unfortunately you have to be careful of fakes. If anyone has a wing that they would me to check the recepient out please PM me.
