This might be out of most of your feilds but do any of you recognize this axe? is it a European fire axe? An aged replica?

Actually, it looks like it could be a medieval war axe or copy / variation of same. So, very likely a copy, though it could be an old copy - the Victorians were very 'into' Medieval stuff, even re-staging jousts and tournaments. If it is that old, it would explain the damage to the blade tips. If by some chance it is original and 500 years old it is a ture museum piece! -
During the war some of the american troops got into some museums, and took home some antique relics like cross bows, etc. Not that this is what this is but there are a lot of vets in the midwest, and anything is possible. There used to be a guy from florida that sold all kinds of stuff like that , cant recall what his name was.Comment

That's the guy....I still have a pile of his old catalogs somewhere i laid back to help identify stuff like this. Unfortunately they are at my moms house. Maybe they are still in business ? One day ill retrieve all those old lists and such from the old days, and maybe do a thread on the subject. (peter hlinka, zm, der alter oberst, and the list goes on)Comment

I believe he went through some serious legal troubles several years ago regarding some fake confederate swords, ect. He was found murdered outside his home not too many years ago in rural Missouri.Comment
