French Colonial Officers or Haitian Epaulettes?

This pair of epaulletes came in a collection I just picked up. I know nothing about them except that they were made in France and each have a button that reads Haiti.

They are not french for sure. The phrygian hat and the 2 guns are part of the haïtian coat of arms, so I agree for Haïti (who was a former french colony).

Haitian dress boards for a very senior officer, I'm trying to pin down the rank. I'd guess the the period would be the first half of the 1900's. A similar design was used on the Guarde de Haiti insignia used by the US Marines during the 20's Banana Wars.

BTW are you planning to sell/trade these boards?

              fine

Fine epaulets. They are from an haitian general between 1880 to 1900. If you don't preserve them, please contact me because i'm collecting Haitian militaria. Echange can be me made against french or german militaria, or other.
