Royal Lifesaving Society Medal & Case

    Hello,

Here's a little something I picked up today at a local antique fair for the princely sum of £5.
This isn't in the MYB,so if anyone can tell me anything about these at all(ribbon colour, value etc),i'd be extremely grateful.
    Kind regards,
    Andy

A fiver? You lucky, lucky bugger! That's the extremely rare RLSSoc. Bronze medal for a deliberately unsuccessful attempt at saving a drowning cat. Spunk & Son's had one in their Autumn 1988 catalogue for £600!

Actually, I'm joking (no, really?). It's very nice though, and certainly worthy of further research. What we need, is a nice big scan of the beastie (obv & rev). And just because it isn't in the MYB doesn't mean there's no reason why you shouldn't submit it.

How come I never come acroos nice stuff like this at local 'antique' (overpriced tat) fairs.

        Hello

The medal is a proficency medal for lifesaving. Its awarded for doing the course succesfully. They are quite nice but not at all rare. Nice when they come with medal groups

Its not the bravery medal for lifesaving.

Kind regards from a hot and sunny South Africa
