7 down and 2 to go!

I'll give a hint; both of these countries did produce a victory medal and they are some of the more uncommon ones.

What's wrong? You guys give up already or did you lose interest when you found out Rob had to get his own coffee?

Okay, the badge prior to Serbia is in fact that of Greece. It was a really good shot at Italy and the only way you can really tell is by looking at the flag. In hand, you can barely make out that the flag is not a tri-color type flag and has the small section that the Greek flag has. Hey, why do you think I gave half a point!

If no one correctly guesses the remaining one by tomorrow, I'll put up the answer.

This is the older version, it matches the CoA of the medallion.

              Congrats Stebalin!

You're correct and it was one of the harder crests to identify. Nicely done!

Well, the thread turned out okay I guess. Lots of lookers and a few players.

Now, any thoughts why the designer might have included Serbia on the commemorative while leaving out Italy, Czechoslovakia, Brazil, and Thailand (Siam) that actually produced a Victory Medal for their participating military forces?

Serbia was represented on the commision that decided to have a common theme design for a Victory Medal, but due to political situations after the war decided not to produce one. Cuba produced one, but really didn't participate in the war. Same can be said about the Philippines that only had a "national guard" in place, but not over there.

                Just curious?

Well, there have been past threads on these already and I hate to duplicate for the sake of it. I would need to sit down and photograph several as I don't have them all in PICS currently. I am also still looking for a nice Romanian one, so that one would be missing.

As I think about starting a new thead on Victory Medals, I remembered this old thread and thought I would add a shot that was requested.

                        Hi Tim!

That Greek one is an eye candy, indeed, I like the suspension system of these! These do turn up here now and then at logical prices, but they must be tough to get abroad!

Great to see all these Victory medals together, I love them!

                        Regards, Giorgos

                          Hi Giorgos!

Yes, another area that I enjoy to collect in.

You're correct on the Greek medal, they are seen from time to time and rarely cheap when you do see them. The example I have has a ribbon that is more the French pattern than the original Greek versions, but both are correct. The early Greek pattern ribbons are even harder to find.

                          Regards,
                          Tim
