Tunic of Panzer Vizeleutnant E. Grosser

Another interesting tunic to add to my Austrian Second Republic collection. The colour of the collar tabs background, black, is the arm of service colour for Panzer. The wide silver stripe and gold embroidered star mounted on it are for the rank of Vizeleutnant. The buttons are silver as this rank is not that of a commissioned officer. Officers wear gold buttons of the same design.

    Regards,

    Gordon

The tailors tag inside the left breast pocket. It gives the date of manufacture of 1985 and the owners name.

              Hi Gordon,
              Beautiful tunic. I'm envious.
A Flo Markt pick-up, or did you mug the guy on his way home from a Bierkeller?
I'd like to see some more of the Austrian tunics you have, if you can spare the time to post images. I'm sure the other devotees of this "thread" would be similarly interested. Your the Moderator and we look to you for your leadership and guidance in this area (Have I "sucked-up enough?).
BTW, how goes the "hunt" for cadet tabs?
              Cheers,
              Hugh

                Hugh,

The tunic came from a militaria shop. It is close to the Flea Market and I always stop in it on the way back from there. Flea market prices are too high.
As for the hunt for cadet tabs, no luck. I was hoping you could help there. You mentioned in your PM that you had some friends in Austria who might be able to help. I'd also like to get one of the metal graduation badges to go on the right breast pocket if you ever come across one of those.
I only have one other Austrian post war tunic and I thought that I had posted in this forum but perhaps not. I'll take some fotos later today or tomorrow and put them in the forum.
One correction. I do not moderate this forum. I am a moderator on the West German Forum.

                Regards,

                Gordon

                  Hi Gordon,
My apologies for the oversight on your "moderation role". As my other interest is BW, in due course I'll be bothering you there.
I'll contact my contact Bergland and see what he can find. The graduation badge may take time, as they are prized souvenirs and the recipients are probably mostly still in a position to want to keep them.
I'm surprised that the Flea Market prices have escalated to the point where it's cheaper to buy from a shop. That said, however, last year my Wife and I were in Hanoi and I was able to pick-up a substantial amount of North Vietnamese material more cheaply in shop-front businesses than on the street.
On a more topical note, have you found out anymore about the intriguing bergmutze which I sent you an email about last week? If possible, could you post the photograph, as I would like to hear if anyone "out there" could shed light on the date of it's introduction/re-introduction into the Austrian military.
                  Best regards,
                  Hugh

                    Hugh,

No need to appologize re the moderator comment. It is definitely not clear what a moderator "moderates" on the WAF. I moderate (its called "hosting" there) the HUPR Forum on the GMIC and there they clearley state which forum you moderate.
Love to have you take part in the West German forum.
I'll post the Bergmutze in a few minutes. Should have done that to start with.
As for Flea Market prices versus stores, the store is usually cheaper especialy for medals. The cheapest place for me to buy Austrian things is here in Budapest. I paid the equivalent of 6 Euros for the Academy tunic I posted pictures of.
                    Found those combat knives yet?

                    Regards,

                    Gordon
