Always mentioned (respectfully but tangentally) Does anyone out there collect Australian cammo...???

I'd like to see some of it esp. the Vietnam War era stuff...

Hi John,

i have a little bit of it for my Vietnam era Australian uniforms.
I will have to dig it it and photograph it at a future date and add it to the thread.

I presume you are talking about the camouflage raincoat ( the "can't see me coat") with the matching boonie and the pattern used on the "hutchie" carrier and water bladder?

Aussie Cammo

Any cammo worn by Aussies in the VN war would be great to see. When did the so-called Duck Hunter Pattern (still used today) come into use..??

Somewhere I have a US ERDL jacket that has an Australian patch sewn on the sleeve. Came out of a Ft. Bragg pawn shop many years ago. I'll see if I can dig it out.

When did the so-called Duck Hunter Pattern (still used today) come into use..??

Hi John,

as far as i know the official introduction of the "Disruptive Pattern Camouflage Uniform (DPCU) was in 1988.

The uniform had an extensive and extended trial period however from 1982 up to 1988.

As an aside i have heard this camo referred to as "bunny pattern" due to the shapes contained in it.

Getting the current revision of this camo( with its different colour tones) is quite hard due to Australian Government restrictions on the sale of the pattern to civilians.
