    German M1957 Ribbon bars

    Hi!

Here I want to show some of my M1957 ribbon bars,

1st: The Bundesgrezschutz (Federal border guard) members used to wear their "stickpins" on dark-green backing, not the usual black used by Bundeswehr. Notable is the Sports badge on last position. The Sports badge should also be worn on the ribbon bar. First is was worn either on a neutral or on a black-red-golden ribbon (same as later used for the Ehrenkreuz) From 1959 the so-called Olympic ribbon was used for the Sports decorations.

    Best regards

    Daniel

          Bar of Oberwachtmeister Neuburg,
he was also a Fire brigade man. As he reiceived his Fire Brigade 25 long service dec. from his federal state (pos. 9) he just wrapped the ribbon over his earlier awarded FEDERAL silver fire brigade decoration (ribbon is visible under the white-red ribbon) instead of ordering a new and bigger ribbon bar.

early 57 ribbon bars were the same like the olf Feldschnallen. 15 mm ribbons over a haslf-round 17 mm high bar.
This bar has pre-punched holes, maybe it is a remaining one from pre 1945. For the wound badge and the General assault badge the outfitter used a combined ribbon which is a bit smaller than 30mm. Thats why the swords on the KVK ribbon are misplaced.

This style was never so common but is rarely still today to see.

I thought the anti-partisan badge was one of the awards not reinstituted in 1957...perhaps I am mistaken

Occasionally this bars turn up at eBay or at the dealers.
Prices are different, depends what is on it.

Andy, The Bandenkampfabzeichen was not banned in 1957. Just Political, Anschluß and Westwall. Maybe they considered the Bandenkampf as a normal combat award like that other Kampfabzeichen with no political background.

                  Best regards

                  Daniel

P.S. some more to show from Your collections? Would love to see more.

The obverse of a Bundesmariner who was a veteran of the Spanish Civil War 1936-39: I just think it is WEIRD that the GERMAN awrds would be banned for that, but NOT the Spanish ones!
