    Russian Adrian helmet M15

    Somebody has pictures of fakes emblem from Russian Adrian helmet M15?

    Is this a fake on my pictures?

    At first glance it looks real. and it might well be, but that's just a guess. 10 years ago it was easy to spot a fake badge because it was either cast out of lead of stamped or cast in brass or copper. even if painted, none of these metals are magnetic and so all you had to do was see if a magnet would stick to it and if so, you could be sure it was real. Unfortunately, in the last few years I think copies have been stamped out of steel (like the originals) perhaps from original die and so the old easy test is no good.

    You need to do this the hard way, by examination, which will only give you a percentage of certainty.

    Compare the badge to the helmet...
    Does the paint color match? Does the finish, or percentage of paint loss match? Does the rust pitting and color match? Are the attachment tabs on the inside unbroken? Do they show the same age as the helmet?

    Ultimately you could take the badge off to find your answers but I would not recommend this. Old weakened tabs can break hurting the value and bringing authenticity more into question.

    Good luck. Hope this helps. As I said, it looks pretty good, but the art of faking militaria has been elevated to a science now.
