    Excellent Collection Steve!

You're in on the ground floor of collecting OIF and OEF militaria. It's almost like the WW2 folks who wish the could have been in Germany in 46.

    Congrats

Outstanding collection!! May we PLEASE, PLEASE<, PLEASE see a blow up of the Iraqi ribbon bar? That's only the 3rd i have ever seen- and i look.
Also, I didn't know the Taliban had a flag. Could we also see that too?
      Thanks,
      JeMc
      p.s. GREAT COLLECTION!

Sorry JM for the delayed reply.

First up are details of the ribbon bars and the Republican Guard patch I believe is from the Adnan Division.

Closer shots. The ribbon bars are different. One is embroidered style and the other is standard but with a snap back. the second ribbon bar must have snapped on to his service uniform or maybe something else. The pin style seems suitable for his shirts.

The medals would be from L to R top to bottom:

First Row - General Service Medal (Royal period?), 1948-49 Palestine Medal
Second Row - 1968 17 July Revolt Medal, 1970 Medal for Peace (class unknown but likely Gold or Silver), 1971 Army Jubilee Medal (probably in gold).

The patch is a velour-like material with silk green embroidery. I think the squiggles say 'Adnan' but I am not sure. It is the nicest Rep. Guard triangle I have seen. The shirt is also a very high quality material compared to most.

Details of the back of the bars. Not real fancy but ribbon bars are pretty scarce.

And for your last request JM, a close up of the very scarce Taliban Flag. It is double-sided but of two separate pieces of cloth stitched together as is common in many countries in that part of the world.

Had to bribe a guard to come up with it. He was scared to death. He said he could be in big trouble for possessing a Taliban flag or even asking for one. I handed him a $20 and told him he could get another when I got the flag. He came to me in secret two days later with the flag.

I have no idea what the squiggles say. Probably something about Allah being great or some such. Enjoy. Steve

Greetings! In this picture there is a helmet liner on the left which has a red triangle on the front. Do you have any idea what this designation indicates? Thanks for your help!

Real nice collection! Thanks for showing. I'm just a little late gettin' here.

                  Damn!!
                  Just saw this!!
                  OUTSTANDING!!!!!
Awesome historical stuff there. That flag is fantastic! Hold onto that one it'll pay your mortgage in @ 100 years or so.
The ribbon bars are also awesome. I note that they are individually made-thread by thread. That is superb quality. Owain Raw-Rees would die to see those!
Wait until Sgt. Luna sees these; he'll have a stroke.
                  Thanks for posting!!

                    Hello,

the red triangle marking as seen on the wonderful uniforms and headgear posted is a distinctive insignia of the Iraqi Republican Guard.

A superb collection of items, thanks for posting.

Thank you for the reply, Patrick. I just bought an Iraqi helmet and liner; the liner has the red triangle. Nice to know.
