    La Medaille de la Marne

Is anyone familiar with this medal? Apparently my great uncle earned it in WWI as part of the 104th Infantry. I also have the certificate with a stamp and his name on it. It's in French. Anybody know what this was given for?

    thanks

The "Medaille de la Marne" was created in 1937 by the "Association des Soldats de la Marne", an organziation of veterans who had fought at the various battles of the Marne from 1914 through 1918.

So, it's a membership medal, although it seems also to have been given to allied soldiers who gave donations.
