Does anybody know what country this wing is from? I thought it resembled the wing off a WWI German shoulderboard, but a more experienced friend told me he has no doubts that it isn't. The questions are what is it? Who used it? Any idea what it is worth? I got it in a mixed lot of pins from an estate sale. It's approx 1.75" from wingtip to wingtip, and the prop is approx 7/8" tall.

Air Service Collar Device
Walt,
This is a WWI United States Air Service officers collar insignia. They were worn in pairs in conjunction with the "US" insiginia. Sometimes singles were worn on the garrison cap. This example looks like is may be of French make. A nice single is worth about $30-40

While at first glance this might be seen as U.S., I don't think it was. The wing shape is actually quite a bit different (even if dismissed as a French-made variation). More importantly, the U.S. prop was silver (I've had several where just the prop was sterling) and this blatantly gilt style wouldn't have been allowed.
