    French cavalry helmet - OPINION

    Dear All,

Here is my new cavalery helmet for French police military forces.

This kind of helmet was still in use during the first months of the Great War. Quite amazing!!

A beautiful piece in respect of which I would love to have your opinion!!!

    Cheers

    Alex

          Hi Alex,
Very nice M1912 Gendarmerie helmet. With the " plumet" on the left side it will make a great display item. You should find stamped markings on the rear of the shell (outside) : the size in a square cartouche and the maker in an oval one. Is it possible to have some pics of these markings ?
By the way you have a nice collection of pre-WW II french helmets .
I always liked these type of "casques a criniere".
          Congratulations
          Phil

            Thanks Phil for the compliments!

Well, I have the "Plumet" but decided not to put it on because it clashes with the other helmets on display on the same shelf, I refer here to my rather scary looking German steel combat helmets

There is some marking on the back, just underneath the tail. I will make some pics tomorrow for you when the sun returns.

            Cheers

            Alex
