French model 1915 vs. the US M1917 helmet

if you had to choose one of these helmets to wear in combat, which one is the better design?

I think I would go with the US M1917 helmet, it just feels stronger and the steel is a little heavier

the French helmets are so light and paper thin, they dont feel as strong?

anybody know how well the French M15 protected the wearer?

I heard the US M1917 didnt protect the neck and side of the face very well

I would think it more appropriate to compare the adrian t the british helmet, since the M1917 is basicaly a copy of the british helmet.
By the way, the americans copied the brit helmet and not the french one for good reason: the french helmet would hardly protect against anything... I would perfer wear the M1917.
