    Imperial Russian Unit Help

I recently had a lady ask me to ID her grandfather. Can anyone help me out? The shoulder boards are marked with a "TDg" (in Cyrillic) Anyone know what unit that was? The photo was taken in 1917 - so right at the beginning of the Russian Civil War.

    Thanks!

An even larger picture would be better for a positive identification, but from what I can see, it looks like "T-Dr.", which would be Dagestan Terek Fortress Artillery.

          Hi Dave

          I think Chip is correct..

A friend said "Т.Дг (T. Dg.) was for the Terek-Daghestan Fortress Artillery Units, with orange or brown stencelling according to unit."

          George

I'm still looking up the correct badge..

Something Daghestan was also where I was heading, but I couldn't find a reference for artillery units.

With Mikes help heres the rank..

His rank is bombardier - an artillery rank equivalent to corporal.
